Singapore Guide
- on what you want to know, from the horses' mouth

Short Background on this article - This article started as a form of guide for tourists to Singapore. It originally meant to look like the copy I wrote for Hotels.Online Singapore, meant to be short and precise like the previous copy. However, the writing bug hit me and the more I am into this article, the more I write, so it actually grew to quite a lengthy article.

This is the second edition adapted from the original edition available at SingaporeHotelsReservation.com. I may not have done much enhancements in terms of contents, but I will be trying to in a short while.. hopefully. ;-)

I am a Singaporean by birth, and have lived here for over thirty years. Because of my job, I traveled quite a bit (previously, no longer though), and have seen and experienced many interesting people from countries all over. Wherever I go, I always ask the locals to bring me where they will go, not where the tourists go, and always have a great deal of experiences compared to friends who go as tourists. That is why I started this article.

I am a local writing about Singapore, as compared to many similar articles and publications but are written by foreigners. With due respect to all the other authors, a lot of interesting information are not available in those articles and publications, or they are based merely on the tourists' guide produced by major publication companies or tourists boards.

A lot of interesting information are not available in those articles are available here. This "guide" is written based on my experiences, what I have seen and what I have heard, and I did not use any references (except to check up the referring addresses, telephone nos. etc.), so you can actually be assured of its originality. There may be portions of grammatical or spelling errors, which I apologise in advance. Please point them out to me and I will have them changed promptly. Hey, I am no English major, so give me a chance (as the Editor of a major PC magazine pointed out recently [I contributed some articles at his demand, hear hear TC!!], my "England very the powerful" - in actual words from him, oh it is a local joke for improper usage of English)!

I will try as much as I can to provide you with information and links to facilitate your visit to Singapore. This guide can be a bit "wordy" as I try to provide as detailed information as possible. So please give me a chance to tell you what I know.. :-) TIA [it means Thanks in Advance, for those who are not aware, I actually got e-mails asking me what it is!!]!

For those short on time, I will be preparing a copy of the same content but in a summarized manner in due course, if there is a demand for it.

You are also warned that my article is not your typical tourists guide, I will give you what you want to know instead of what they want you to know. All contents are written in a light-hearted manner, after all, if you are a visitor to Singapore and are looking for information, you should not be bombed with all-too-formal presentations, and I am sure you want to know something from the streets instead of what looks good only, agree?

Below you will find the necessary information for your visit, and on top of that, all necessary links to web sites which contains further details, if you require.

I will try to update this "guide" as frequently as possible, and welcome all feedback to make this a more comprehensive page. Please feel free to let us know if you require any information and wish to contribute to anything which I have missed out on.

Latest - 13 May 2003:
I have discovered that some web sites and publications have lifted contents (some even lifted entirely, including my grammar errors!) from my articles without my prior written consent. I am a peace-loving guy, so if you are one of those culprits, please contact me immediately to sort this out. I hate to resort to legal means to protect my intellectual property rights. Thank you.
